About BluGives
BluGives is an early-stage person-to-person giving product. It is being built around a simple goal: help a donor understand who they are considering, what the transaction costs, and how much the recipient is calculated to receive before the donor continues.
Our mission
Make direct giving easier to understand without overstating verification, security, payment coverage, outcomes, or the amount a recipient receives.
A donor chooses a specific recipient profile and sees the selected amount, fees, and calculated recipient amount before continuing.
Profile status and social-account signals are explained as context, not as proof of identity, financial need, future behavior, or use of funds.
The product can associate a transaction with a donor, recipient, amount, and payment status. Recipient updates remain recipient-provided information.
Account flows collect location context, while payment and payout availability remain subject to the supported provider, market, and account eligibility.
The problem BluGives is trying to solve
People sometimes want to help a specific individual rather than contribute to a pooled organizational fund. Existing choices can make it difficult to compare profile context, understand platform signals, identify fees, and know what part of the entered amount is calculated to reach the recipient.
BluGives addresses that problem with donor and recipient accounts, recipient profiles, a review-status signal, a donation-selection flow, and a fee summary. The current donation flow deducts a 3% payment-processing fee and a 2% platform fee from the amount entered. The exact fees and the recipient's net amount are shown before payment.
Recipient profiles may display a social-account review status and trust signals. These signals provide context, but they are not a guarantee of identity, need, future behavior, or how funds will be used. The product should improve those signals over time, but stronger verification language will only be published after the exact checks and limitations are documented and operating.
BluGives is not presented as a registered charity, bank, escrow service, or guarantor of a recipient's statements or use of funds. Direct gifts between individuals are generally different from tax-deductible gifts to qualified nonprofits.
Accountability as the product evolves
Fee, verification, payment, support, security, and outcome statements should match the current product and its documented operating procedures. Future ideas belong on the roadmap and must be labeled as future work.
