A practical fit check
Is BluGives right for the way you want to give?
BluGives is one option for a person-to-person gift. It is not automatically the best option for every donor, recipient, tax situation, or type of need.
BluGives may fit when
BluGives is designed around individual recipient profiles rather than a pooled nonprofit fund. You review the profile and decide whether that specific request fits your giving goals.
The payment flow displays the gross amount, separate processing and platform fees, total fees, and the calculated recipient amount before payment.
The application can associate a contribution with your account, a recipient, an amount, and payment status. That is transaction context, not an independent audit of the later outcome.
Understand the current fees
The current donation flow deducts a 3% payment-processing fee and a 2% platform fee from the amount entered. The exact fees and the recipient's net amount are shown before payment.
The entered amount is the gross amount, and the recipient amount is lower after the displayed fees. If avoiding a platform fee is your priority, BluGives is not a zero-platform-fee option under the current calculation.
Understand the recipient signals
Recipient profiles may display a social-account review status and trust signals. These signals provide context, but they are not a guarantee of identity, need, future behavior, or how funds will be used.
A donor should still review the specificity and consistency of the profile, avoid off-platform payment requests, and decide whether the uncertainty is acceptable. A badge is not equivalent to nonprofit governance, an audited program, or a guarantee of fund use.
BluGives may not fit when
- You need a charitable tax receipt from a qualified nonprofit.
- You require independently audited proof of need or a guaranteed use of funds.
- You need a zero-fee platform or the full gross amount delivered to the recipient.
- You are not comfortable treating the payment as a generally non-refundable personal gift.
- Your country or account is not supported by the configured payment or payout provider.
Other giving options to compare
The right choice depends on what you value: institutional oversight, tax treatment, social sharing, personal connection, fees, or convenience.
Consider a qualified nonprofit when you want program-level due diligence, institutional governance, audited reporting, or possible charitable tax treatment.
Consider a crowdfunding campaign when you already know the organizer or when a group needs a shareable page, updates, and a larger target amount.
Consider a direct transfer when you personally know the recipient and do not need a platform profile, giving interface, or account-level transaction context.
Review the model before registering
Read the product model, trust guidance, fees, refund terms, and tax explanation. Create an account only when the current tradeoffs fit how you want to give.
